Android Tip - Generating Device Artwork

Created a cool Android app but struggling to create some nice artwork showing your application running on Nexus devices?

Google has this Device Art Generator tool (http://developer.android.com/distribute/promote/device-art.html) that allows you to drop the screen shot of your Android app onto one of three Nexus devices – Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10:

To use this Device Art Generator, first capture your screen shots of your app (such as using Eclipse). For example, I have captured the Home screen of my Note 3 as shown below:

Next, drag and drop it over one of the three devices and it will now generate a screenshot of your app with the selected device skin:

You can optionally apply a shadow and screen glare to the device image. You can also rotate the image.

Right-click on the image and save it to your local computer. You can now use it in your marketing materials!

Learn how to write Android Apps - 11-12 May 2013

I am happy to schedule a weekend run for the Foundation of Android Programming class. For those of you who are keen to learn Android programming on your own weekend, this is the best chance to get started in just 2 days! Set your calendar to 11-12 May 2013. The usual fee of the course is S$997 (nett), but I would like to give those early birds a S$100 discount if you register before 30 April 2013. And if you bring along a friend, you get an additional $50 discount on top of the early bird discount. So hurry, register now as places are limited!
